April News

ACF Elections are now over. Congratulations to those who won their races, and my thanks goes to those elected for their service. Kim Willis currently holds both the Secretary and Treasurer's positions. I wish to welcome Richard White and Dave Stovie as new District Managers (Districts 1 and 7). Two district manager positions remain vacant (Districts 3, 5). In a few cases, write-in votes were not counted due to ACF membership not being in good standing or because the person was not willing to serve. Michael Holmes received votes for ACF Player Rep, but he is currently unavailable to serve, although he expressed interest to me for serving as Player Rep in the future. Under the circumstances, I have decided to stay on as ACF Player Rep in the interim.

The Ladies GAYP World Title Match between Amangul Durdyeva and challenger Jan Mortimer is still in the works. I thank Hugh Devlin for putting much personal time into the negotiations of this match. I'm not sure how this topic will play out, but I hope to see the match occur in the next couple of months. Amangul Durdyeva and Javzan Gerechuluun (of Mongolia) are also scheduled to play a 3-move match this year, as is Alex Moiseyev and Ron King

A bid for the 2010 ACF National Tournament is progressing well, thanks to the work of John Acker, who proposed to have it in Springfield, IL to honor Richard Fortman. As always, competing bids will still be accepted through the end of this calendar year. In the meantime, I look forward to this year's GAYP National in Lebanon, Tennessee.
