Welcome to the ACF Website!

  An Experiment in Computer Rankings by Kingsrow Ed Gilbert, programmer of Kingsrow, instructed his program to rank the 156 openings in the three-move deck as an experiment. Kingsrow, which has an eight-piece database, was asked to weight equally its evaluation of an opening's rating and scope to compute its final score. This first attempt by Mr. Gilbert does not claim to accurately assess how humans rank opening ballots, but it is an interesting exercise in itself.

In the table below, those openings marked "ctd" were used in the "Computer Tough Deck" in the 2002 World Computer Championship held in Las Vegas. For assistance in using this table, view ACF Table Features.
