My ACFB Collection For Sale (As Of July 01, 2007)

Postby Dennis Cayton on Sun Jul 01, 2007 3:19 pm

Hello Checker Friends,

For the past several hours, I have been doing a detailed inventory and inspection of each and every single issue of the American Checker Federation Bulletin (ACFB) I own.

My reason for doing this was to be able to identify and describe any serious flaws, which I may have overlooked before, in the issues that I own and am trying to sell.

As a result, I identified many flaws which I failed to note before.

If I am trying to sell these to you, then it is my duty to inform you of these flaws, if and before you decide to buy them.

Please accept my apologies for my failure to note and describe these flaws in my previous library lists.

In addition, I recently sold 16 separate issues of the ACFB. For this reason, I needed to reorganize my list of ACFBs for sale.

The earliest issue of the ACFB that I own and which is for sale is the August 1978 issue, which is issue number 154.

The latest issue of the ACFB that I own and which is for sale is the December 2003 issue, which is issue number 306.

All of the other issues I own fall in between these two issues.

While inspecting my issues of the ACFB, I noted that I had removed certain preliminary pages from many issues. I had long forgotten that I had done this.

These pages included such features as match and tournament news, the Swap Shop column, obituaries, mail play ladders, Fumbles and Swindles, occasional game analysis, and so on.

With only one exception in one issue, all of the game pages for the ACF National Champtionship Tournament games are included.

I have also been racking my brain trying to figure out the best way, or even a halfway decent way, to go about selling these.

I think I have finally come up with something.

First of all, I am going to describe the issues I have for sale according to their yearly sets.

A yearly set will be defined as the set of all of the ACFB issues which came out during any given calendar year. These were bi-monthly issues, commencing with the February issue of a given year, and ending with the December issue of that given year.

I am going to describe 4 types of sets:

Complete -- Complete:
These are sets which contain every single issue within a given calendar year and in which every single issue contains every single page with no missing pages.

Complete -- Incomplete:
These are sets which contain every single issue within a given calendar year, but in which one or more issues are missing one or more pages.

Incomplete -- Complete:
These are sets in which one or more issues within a given calendar year are missing, but in which every issue within that set contains every single page with no missing pages.

Incomplete -- Incomplete:
These are sets in which one or more issues within a given calendar year are missing and in which one or more of the existing issues contain one or more missing pages.

I will now describe which yearly sets correspond to which type of set and identify the cost of each set.

This gets kinda complicated. That's why I wanted to post this separately from my new library list.

To make a long story short, if you decide you want to buy every single issue I have, and in the conditions I have described, you can have them all for $100, plus postage and shipping.

I have counted a total of 133 issues. Not counting the cost of shipping and postage, this comes out to approximately 75.2 cents per issue.

Here goes:

Total Issues: 133
Discount Price Of All 133 Issues: $100 Plus Shipping And Postage

The cost of each yearly set, sold separately, is given in the previous post in this thread.

There is one thing I forgot to mention. If you want to buy an individual complete copy (one with no pages missing) from a given set, without buying the entire set, the cost of that issue is $3.

For example: Suppose you are missing issue number 256 from the 1995 set. The cost of buying that one issue alone would be $3. The cost of buying the entire 1995 set is $5, as shown in the previous post in this thread.

I hope this clears up any cobwebs caused by the previous post.

Good luck to all.

New Price Reductions

Postby Dennis Cayton on Mon Jul 09, 2007 6:05 am

Hello Checker Friends,

I am making offering another price reduction for my collection of the American Checker Federation Bulletin (ACFB) described in this thread.

First, here is a summary of this description:

The earliest issue of the ACFB that I own and which is for sale is the August 1978 issue, which is issue number 154.

The latest issue of the ACFB that I own and which is for sale is the December 2003 issue, which is issue number 306.

A few of the ACFB issues between the issues mentioned above are missing.

A total of 16 of the ACFB issues between the issues mentioned above have been sold.

This leaves me with the following:

91 Complete Issues With No Pages Missing.
42 Incomplete Issues With One Or More Pages Missing.
Total Issues: 133

I am reducing the cost of the entire set described above from $100, plus
posting and shipping, to $80, plus postage and shipping.

In addition, I am reducing the cost of a single "complete" individual issue (one with no pages missing) from $3 to $2.

For example:

Suppose you are missing issue number 256 from the 1995 set. The cost of buying that one issue alone would now be $2. The cost of buying the entire 1995 set is $5, as shown in the original post in this thread.

The cost of each yearly set, sold separately, as described in detail in the original post of this thread, remains the same.

To summarize my price reductions:

My Entire Set:
$80 plus the cost of postage and shipping

Each Individual Single Issue Which Is Complete With No Missing Pages:
$2

Those are my price reductions.

Good luck to all.

Best Wishes,

Dennis Cayton

An Issue Sold

Postby Dennis Cayton on Thu Jul 19, 2007 5:19 am

Hello Checker Friends,

This is to inform you that the following issue of the American Checker Federation Bulletin (ACFB) has been sold:
_________________

Issue Number 292
August 2001
_________________

Each individual issue, which I have inspected and determined to be complete, with no missing pages, and from the list I have provided in my post in the previous thread, is now on sale for $2 each.

For example, suppose you find that you go through your ACFB collection and find that you are missing issue number 241 (February 1993).

If you check through my list, you will find that I have this issue for sale.

The cost for this issue is $2.

A revised checker library list, consisting of everything I have left, will be posted later today.

Good luck to all.

Best Wishes,

Dennis Cayton

Another Price Reduction

Postby Dennis Cayton on Thu Jul 19, 2007 8:18 am

Hello Again,

I wrote the following in my previous post earlier this morning:
_____

"Each individual issue, which I have inspected and determined to be complete, with no missing pages, and from the list I have provided in my post in the previous thread, is now on sale for $2 each.

For example, suppose you find that you go through your ACFB collection and find that you are missing issue number 241 (February 1993).

If you check through my list, you will find that I have this issue for sale.

The cost for this issue is $2."
_____

I am now lowering this price to ONE DOLLAR for each complete individual single issue..

The price of any incomplete individual single issue is now FIFTY CENTS.

The price of my entire ACFB collection still stands at $80 plus postage and shipping costs.

These changes are effective as of now.

Good luck to all.

Best Wishes,

Dennis Cayton
