Information on Walter Casteel?

Postby Jason Solan on Mon May 07, 2007 10:11 pm

From time to time i get email from people that i cannot answer. Usually i forward those emails on to someone who knows more about the subject. In this case, i don't know who that would be so i'm opening it up to the checkers community.

Hello,

I am looking for info on my grandfather. Walter Casteel (AKA: Pistel
Pete).

Growing up, I was always told he was one of the many National Checker
Champions. Going threw old family things, I'm finding many news paper, mag,
and books, with him in them. So as a grandson, I thought I would do a deep
search and see what all I could turn up.

I have done a (what I thought was) very good search threw the ACF web
site. For the life of me I can not find him anywhere.

Any info would be very helpful.

Jason, I would recommend him to scan newspaper and/or books and send to you or post here, on website. The full text of article may help.

Good idea Alex,

I believe it would also be of help to those searching for info. on him to know what state he was from and what years he may have been playing. I assume he was actively playing before 1948 in that he seems to be associated with the NCA. The news papers, magazine articles, books, etc. may provide that info.
