I considered Cecil Lowe a personal friend. At one tournament I had no room so Cecil invited me to stay with him as his room had two beds. I believe that in one tournament in which Cecil and I played he even let me win a game. Not many of my opponents have been gracious enough to do that! Hope you guys have a great tournament, I am sorry I cannot be there. This last weekend I played in two , one day tournaments in Missouri. The 3 move was Saturday and the GAYP Sunday. Enough of the players felt sorry enough for me on Saturday to help me achieve first place. They were not so kind hearted on Sunday as they only let me finish second. George and Darlene ran two great one day tournaments, my only regret and I think it George's too, was that only six players showed up for each event.

I also feel that the North Carolina Association is very fortunate in having JR Smith to post tournament results for all ACF related checker tournaments. JR, you do a great job! Be sure if you play in NC you give JR the credit which he is due. Also compliment Tim on well organized officiating at this tournament.

I agree that JR Smith is a huge asset to checkers, especially in this area. I hope I can make this tournament. I just got back from deployment last week and I have a training command that has to agree to let me off on a Friday for this tourney :).

Thanks alot to JR, Tim, sponsors who made it. It was very enjoyable and friendly atmosphere. Congratulations to Ryan with 2nd place and Tim - new NC champion. Tournament fund - $2,300 ... amazing. Turnout - 21 player, more than in ACF National 2015. Fruits, water, soda, pizza were provided to players by organizers.

I was lucky to finish 1st with 27 points out of 32. Good memory for Cecil.

I see I should have been to the NC Open. It would have made an even number of players and I could not have done worse than finish 22nd!! Tim again ran a great tournament, and Alex finished in his usual position so congratulations to all and I was glad to see a good crowd showed up.

Neil,
Your humor is priceless.
I bet if you were the only competitor, you would still come in last.

I remember you beating me badly in either a VA or NC Bill Salot, of course that is not much of a feat as I usually get beaten in every game in every tournament unless there are a lot of sympathetic people present!

I just stumbled on an old ACF Bulletin that included the results of the March 2007 Tennessee Open.
The winner was Alex Moiseyev and runner -up was Ryan Pronk.

Ryan, you are not making any progress!
