What Is Expected of the ACF Website?

Postby Jason Solan on Sun Jul 30, 2006 1:53 pm

I've been very neglective of the ACF website as of late.

But this weekend i was looking through the log files and the website is at an all time high of visitors. I also did some googling and the website is starting to gain ground in search rankings.

I'm certainly not on the pulse of the checkers world anymore, so I'd like to know what i can provide on the website to make it better. What would you as the readers like to see either added or improved?

Sincerely,
Jason Solan

Jason one of the situations that needs to be seriously addressed is the use of multiple user ID names (that we all have seen on the Forum recently) with which a user continously demeans other Forum members and their postings--then that person changes his ID thereafter upon returning to the Forum. Several negative postings of that nature still remain on the Forum.

ACF classes here on the Forum: Yesterday Palomino found out how to put checker diagrams onto the Forum. Others probably would like to know how this is done, so perhaps one of our more knowledgeable Forum members would be willing to teach classes here on how to add diagrams and pictures, etc., onto the ACF Forum.

You may simply attach it from your own PC.

Jason,

Is it possible you can make it so that we can attach files to our posts. I'm thinking of pictures of checkers paintings and other related art, memorabilia items like rare checker sets, checker puzzles, etc., this would add a lot to the trivia section.

I think a gallery button with pictures would be nice, J.R. does such a great job of this at the NCcheckers site and I don't mean we need to duplicate pictures from every tourney but I think pictures from the national tournaments, possibly also district tournaments and Championship matches would be nice.

Along the same lines maybe a "Gallery of Champions" with the World Champions' pictures along with pictures of District and State Champions'
or mabe their pictures could be added to the present "Roster of Champions"

Just some ideas I had,

Regards, "Pal" Bucker

I believe it would be good to have a Search within this website feature.

I recently tried to find a diagram of a numbered checkersboard here on our website and I could not find one, I think that is something we need to have. (The numbered board I mean in addition to a search feature.)

I'll try to add a search soon, i know i can setup a google search for just this site, so i'll add that and we'll see if it does the job or not.

as for the numbered board, here is one:

Mr. Hannigan, see my email. I'll be more than happy to analyze Irish Open & British Open games and post them here in ACF forum.

In addition, Irish Draughts Association Newsletter(s) can be scan and posted in Online Library (see other posts in forum) http://checkersusa.com/books - perhaps best place for it !
