Are all three of you retarded???

I think I am going to be done with this forum after I finish saying this. Nobody with a half wit of intelligence has posted in this topic accept my friends who only posted here to pretty much help defend me since the down syndrome babies were ganging up on me. which brings me to believe that all of the smart ones have just given up.

1. I don't know what kind of schools they have in Australia... learn to read what people are saying instead of making up your own crap as usual. It pertained to older players upset that they don't get respect online, not anyone being a a saint you complete and utter moron.

2. Tommyc, I go to a tournament every year so you need to take your bad Irish spelling and your crappy books with like a million corrections and start making some sort of sense. Otherwise just shut your hole and have another beer.

3. Alex, you need to start reading also. I did not claim anything Steve did. He is the one with the user name alamo on playok you can discuss it with him there. He said that he does have proof.

The only posts I will be making will be simple one liners just letting you all know ratings are updated and so forth. It's my bday today so I'm gonna go have some fun. peace

[quoteHi Eric, I read through the ACF forum and I found Mr. Gobers comments very interesting. He says the older players don’t receive the proper respect when they play online][/quote]

Not exactly what I meant to convey. Respect is earned. I don't require anyone nor do I believe the older players require anyone to respect them. However, please understand, why they won't stick around when things become a little to "out of line" for them. By "out of line" I mean, crude talk, some trash talk, ect. I don't want to endure that stuff for very long. This does not by any means lesson my respect for the abilities of you young players. Some of you are wonderfully talented checker players and ,in that regard, have my utmost respect and encouragement. I suppose my idea of a great master player was the likes of Dr. Cravens or Dr. Tinsley. When I was only starting, Dr. Cravens never failed to encourage me, and suggest ways for my improvement. He never once said, "you suck or some such thing" and I still have very fond memories of the man. He and Dr. Tinsley were very modest and refined men. You can have a bit of the rogue in you and that is ok........ the belittling trash talk however wears thin on this old okie.

Best regards and may you each play well at the Nationals,
wayne

That is a great point Wayne and I feel the same way. If kurnik players want to attract more ACF players to the site, lessening the trash talking and horrible manners would help. I have played Internet checkers for 8 years and I can't tell you how many times I get bad mouthed and insulted. It is a big reason why I avoid a lot of online play. Older folks especially and people like myself with a laid back personality won't put up with that crap. I mean it is checkers, not UFC or boxing.

Eric for someone who likes to sling insults at the least sign of disagreeance you have some cheek getting upset. If you don't like what I said and need your friends to defend you ... Get a tougher skin, princess...(I thought you've been to the military)
I don't need others to defend me, I'm a man.
And life isn't a popularity contest sunshine, primary school finished a long time ago...
Happy birthday princess... I hope you have a PRECIOUS day.

Tommy, while preparing for my upcoming World title match with Michele Borghetti, I find 6-7 corrections in your book and 1 (not critical) in Kingsrow opening book. Most of corrections in your book - just missing good opportunities, but there are couple on alternative lines where verdict is incorrect.

It looks like on some occasions you copied lines from ID book without deep validation.

yOU MAY BE RIGHT CHAMP.....but i can honestly say every line was validated over the 4 yrs it took to do this work,i may have refered to lines in the ID books thats all.

And i thank yu for saying this as if there is only 7 as yu say ill be pretty chuffed with that.As u know this was a pioneer project and unique in some ways as it was a first and there arent many of them.

I cant think of another book that has ONLY 7 correction.I can say im well pleased.Maybe one of my nine grand-children may have distracted me ,but thats called being a grand-dad.

I know we re standing on the shoulders of the Great men that went b4 us like Cayton and his team.

There have been some good points made, from both sides

but a lot of the petty arguing, a little from both sides, overshadows the good points that are being made

if a constructive criticism can not be made without the insults, why not say it to that person in a private message? PMs are allowed on this site

This problem and conversation remind me "egg-chicken" problem  Conversations about tandem "online-offline" play goes for many years, since checkers Internet (Microsoft Zone) started - in 1996-1997. The good things is, as Clay mentioned - several online players started to play in real ty's, several offline players joined various forms of Internet - turn based or real time.

However, the negatives come when someone from each side of barricade  try to oversestimate some type of play, underestimate other and briing down and make look miserable other form of game.

I am playing both, online and offline for almost 15 years and enjoy both. But yet - I never played "competitive online games", this is fact. Chee said that I played some so-called "official" online games with Max, Fredo and others but this is not true. I played games with them, won and lost, tried to do my best, but it has nothing to do with competition or serious play, title / ratings etc.

Any competitive match, either offline or online, has it's own strategy, I can take easy draws, reduce experiments, use cooks etc. Nothing like that was involved in my games with Max and Fredo.

I always recommend beginners to play online games, and I recomment to offline players - try Internet games. Using various forms of game increase your horizon, improve your various skills and abilities.

Hey, good luck everyone and don't blamer each other - not a smart thing to do. Life is not easy anyway and don't make it harder !

Playing online and playing offline are 2 different elements..i must say..i play alittle different offline than i do online..cause online..youre fast paced and not as relaxed...and offline..u have time to think out moves and the consquences of making them moves...but its not a relaxing feeling stil..but youre still concentrating..i urge other online players to attend a tournament like i did.. as it stands right now..ill be going to nationals next year

also...im planning a state tournament..very soon!!! for NJ..

im gonna do my best to spread the word..
