Having had a little time to spare during the recent inclement weather, I opened an old box containing maybe a hundred or more games and other items in manuscript all destined for the scrap heap. Fortunately, I found an unpublished game of Dr.Tinsley there, played in one of his exhibition matches during his visits to Britain and Ireland in 1957/58. This game was played against W T Dixon of Aylesbury and concluded in a draw. The Opening was 11-16, 22-18, 8-11 and the game is annotated by Dixon in very neat handwriting.
This will be published in a future issue of the IDA Newsletter, so don’t forget to tell your friends you saw it there.
There was also a cook by AG Huggins on the 10-14, 23-19, 11-16 Opening, which he used in postal play scoring a win against J Pirie of Scotland in 1947. I hope to publish this game also.
“It’s an ill wind that blows no good”, as the idiom says.
