Happy Birthday - John Reade

Postby liam stephens on Thu Jul 03, 2008 6:47 pm

Well it's now after midnight in Britain and Ireland, so here's wishing a Happy Birthday to John Reade
on 4th July.
Have a great day John, and don't worry too much about the fate of the planet. :)

Many thanks for the birthday wishes chaps.

I got the sausage sandwich last night. This morning I took a walk through Blakeley Forest with my wife Sue, followed by coffee at Sainsbury's. Back home for a potato salad lunch whilst watching the men's semifinals at Wimbledon. Tonight we have a few neighbours coming round for drinks. Not too cold in my case.

The big celebration is next weekend when we hope to have the full family in attendance. We have 2 children married out of 5, and 4 grandchildren. The reason being that this is a big one. I am 70 today.

Yes, I am one of the Yankee Doodle Dandy people, always have been.

Cheers, John Reade.

To Lisle Cormier:

dear Lisle, Happy Birthday ! I wish you to get enough money to be ready for retirement in your earliest 30's :D and spend all your time to the rest of life with checkers!

I really wish and dreaming that some day you return to active checkers. Who knows - may it's happened this year, 2008-2009? :D

Think about - you are 32 now and number of dark (playable) squares on the board is also 32! This doesn't happened very often and next time you have a chance at age 64
I am playing checkers, not chess.

I share a birthday (22nd May) with Sir Arthur Conan Doyle who wrote: "When you have eliminated the impossible, whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth.”
Now, if only I could apply this to checkers..........

Thanks, Alex and Jan.

At least the market rebounded on my birthday. The possibility of an early retirement is evaporating with the global meltdown. On the other hand, I can find gas in Atlanta now that we are exempt from clean-air laws. If ever you visit, take shallow breaths.
