Yes, it's McCarrick- McKay Irish Open 1987, colors reversed:

(1) McCarrick,C. - Mackay,J.
Irish Open 1987, 00-00-1987

1.9-13 23-18 2.12-16 18-14 3.10x17 21x14 4.6-10 25-21 5.10x17 21x14 6.16-19 24x15 7.11x25 29x22 8.8-11 22-18 9.13-17 28-24 10.1-6 27-23 11.4-8 24-19 12.8-12 19-15 13.11-16 15-11 14.16-19(Position) 23x16 15.12x19 18-15 16.7x16 14-10 17.6-9 26-23 18.19x26 31x6 19.2x9 15-11 20.9-14 10-6 0-2

Also 17-13 is a "published" loss Lafferty-Grant, US nationals 1976.

(1) Lafferty,D. - Grant,H.
US National 1976, 00-00-1976

1.11-15 24-20 2.15-18 22x15 3.10x19 23x16 4.12x19 25-22 5.6-10 27-23 6.8-12 23x16 7.12x19 22-18 8.9-14 18x9 9.5x14 29-25 10.4-8 25-22 11.8-11 22-17 12.11-15 20-16 13.14-18 32-27 14.18-22 (Position) 17-13 15.22-25 21-17 16.15-18 30x21 17.18-22 27-24 18.10-15 17-14 19.22-25 14-9 20.25-30 26-22 21.30-25 22-17 22.25-22 9-5 23.19-23 24-20 24.23-26 17-14 25.22-25 31x22 26.25x9 13x6 27.2x9 28-24 28.9-14 16-11 29.7x16 20x11 30.14-18 2-0

The 9-14 defense is indeed a good alternative, but here is a game which white does not lose:

(1) Crawford,C. - Rolader,E.
Florida Open 1969, 00-00-1969

1.11-15 24-20 2.15-18 22x15 3.10x19 23x16 4.12x19 25-22 5.8-11 22-18 6.9-14 18x9 7.5x14 29-25 8.4-8 25-22 9.8-12 22-17 10.6-10 27-23 11.11-15 23x16 12.12x19 20-16 13.14-18 17-14 (instead of 32-27)14.10x17 21x14 15.2-6 32-27 16.1-5 16-11 17.7x16 14-10 18.6-9 10-6 19.9-13 6-2 20.18-22 26x17 21.13x22 2-6 22.16-20 6-10 23.5-9 27-23 24.19x26 10x19 25.9-13 30x23 26.13-17 1-1

But these r "only" games. You got to analyze the variation thouroughly on your own, I am afraid to find the truth.
The games played so far ("Practised Play", not "Published Play") indicate that the mistake was made earlier then you thought.
