IN State 2006

Postby Alex_Moiseyev on Fri Aug 25, 2006 9:17 pm

Well ... my fine Toyona 1996 finally survived :D and tomorrow will be well tested by driving me to Indiana ! It will be my second visit this state and I hope to meet old friends here, have competition and play good games.

I also plan to bring a SIXTH with me in case someone missed it and needs to buy.

See you there folks

Alex

Hi alex,

Alan Millhone and Neil Wenberg arrived this afternoon, we enjoyed a meal together this evening at the the Steak n Shake restaurant across the street from the motel. Gayle Helterbrand and his wife and Earl Kennell had also checked in before I left and came home. Have a safe trip here and I'll see you tomorrow.

I have to leave not later than 6:30 AM. Be patient if I come minutes later  My greetings to all. I am challenging now Alan Millhone for the 6th District Champion Title.

6th is very special number for me and I'll do my best :banghead:

I decided Thursday to go to Indiana, so I called to reserve a room. The lady on the phone at first told me she didn't know anything about a checker tournament. Finally she came back and said, yes there is a checker ty and the rate is $59. So I said I would like to make a reservation for Friday and Saturday night. Then a man came on the phone and siad they didn't have any rooms available for Saturday night. I told him if I came to the ty I would need a room for Sat. night as well, and all he said was he was sorry. So I decided to stay home. I then went on the internet to check availability at the other nearby hotels and I discovered that they did have rooms available for sat. night for $84 on the internet. I think Roger needs to find another place to have this ty.

Gene the rates quoted to Ck. Ty. Directors are usually only good up to a certain point in time--after that one takes their chances on getting a room--and even if one is available those special rates quoted for checker players no longer apply. As you know Saturday is prime time for motels and their rates on that day are traditionally much higher.

Ms Becky, if the rates are good only to a certain date it is usually posted as such. My main complaint though was telling me they had no rooms available for Saturday night. If he had told me he had a room for Saturday night but it would be at a higher rate, I would have made the reservation and gone to the ty.

Hi Gene,

I'm sorry you didn't come, we were hoping you would be here again and you are missed as are the other players that didn't make it back this year. I'm sure that with there being so many lodges and inns near by you would have found a place to stay probably within walking distance of the AmeriHost Inn where we play but I understand how you wouldn't want to travel nearly 400 miles and not know for certain that you would have a room or how much it would cost.

BTW:
Alex arrived this morning shortly before we started to play and was told all the rooms were taken for tonight but Denny is by himself and told Alex his room had two beds and he'd be glad for Alex to share the room with him so it worked out ok and Alex didn't have to go to one of the other motel.

I hope you will be back next year, will be looking forward to that.

Scored by game.

Neil Wenberg and Dr. Shuffett had 1 draw each with Alex on first day.
Second day Alan Millhone had 1 draw with Alex.
Alex won all of his other games.
