USA vs. Barbados

Postby Michael Holmes on Mon Apr 01, 2013 8:34 pm

Seems there are quite a few that could probably play a few days in the USA vs. Barbados match from USA:
1. Moiseyev
2. Beckwith
3. Freeman
4. Walker
5. Morrison
6. Webster?
7. Holmes, M
8. Holmes, A.
9. Millhone, A.
10. Joe Schwartz.

Are there any other USA players interested in playing if we can get it set up? Dates are between September 28th and October 12th.

Michael, I still don't know for sure 100% if I can make my trip on Barbados this year or not. It is quite possible that my travel to Italy will be 1-2 days longer than I expected. if so, this may kill all my ambitious plans. Italy is country with strong stamina - not easy to get in, not easy to get out ! :D
I am playing checkers, not chess.

Sorry to hear that. We could use your fighting spirit and skill Moiseyev. Are there close islands that we can stay at that we could travel to Barbados daily? Anyone in Barbados please respond. How close is St. James. etc. Can I get a vehicle in Barbados? Need plenty of information about this Island of mystery.

Plus is Barbados really up for another match? Please provide the minister of sports information.

I will discuss your proposal for the International match USA Vs. Barbados and see how we can put that event together.

What is the difference between Bridgetown, St. Michaels, St. Lawerance Gap and St. James? How far away is St. Lawerance from Bridgetown? Which I have been told that the Barbados National will be:
The date is June 23- 28 and the venue is The All Souls Church Annex, Holligan Road, Bank Hall, Bridgetown.

This event will start at 5:30pm each evening. More information will be posted on the BDA Facebook page over the next few weeks.

Here are a few more details concerning the USA vs. Barbados match. While it is planned to play October 11th through the 14th the WQT might be extended and reduce the days/games we play. We don't have confirmation of all players listed above which was included in the original posting plus some have said they would not like to go. So, I would like to know if others are interested in competing in the USA vs. Barbados match. The best performers will be chosen to make the team. Right now we plan on having 12 team members on our team but that could also change. Here is the information from the website:
America vs Barbados
(October 11 to October 14 - Evening).
This tournament will feature for the second time in Barbados, a team of players from each country (America & Barbados) competing. Players will be competing for Hazeain King Trophy.
The proposed prize fund for this event is US $5,000.00. Please take special note that room and board are not paid for according to the website.

Other good news is the other match during the morning and afternoon. I do not know the particulars of who or how to play in it:

The 8x8 / 64sq Draughts Tournament
(October 12 to October 14 - Morning & Afternoon)
This competition is being held in Barbados for the first time and will be played under the rules of (Section 64 / FMJD 64) World Draughts Federation.
The proposed prize fund for this event is US $10,000.00

So, in short please reply on here if you are interested in playing on the USA vs. Barbados match.
