The March IDA Newsletter has now been issued.
Below is an extract with details of the arrangements for the Irish Open 2010.

IRISH OPEN CHAMPIONSHIP 2010 – Report by Sean Phillips

The Irish Open will be held in the Radisson Blu Hotel at Dublin Airport from Saturday, 23.10.10, to Tuesday, 26.10.10. The Irish Open will be played in three sections over 9 rounds from the Saturday to Tuesday.
The entry fees will be €40 for the Masters, €30 for the Seniors, and €25 for the Intermediates.
And this will include free Annual Membership of the IDA.
TIMETABLE
Saturday, 23.10.10: Entries 9.30 am. First Round 10 am. Second Round 3 pm.
Sunday, 24.10.10: Third Round 10 am. Fourth Round 3 pm. Irish Draughts Assoc. AGM 8 pm.
Bank Holiday Monday, 25.10.10: Fifth Round 10 am. Sixth Round 3 pm. Seventh Round 8 pm.
Tuesday, 26.10.10: Eighth Round 10 am. Ninth Round 3 pm. Prizes Presentation 8 pm.
ACCOMMODATION
Single Rooms in the Radisson: €75 per person per night including breakfast.
Double Rooms in the Radisson: €95 per room per night including breakfast.
Lunch: Soup & Sandwiches €8.50 per person

Tea/Coffee/Biscuits: €3.00 per person.
Complementary Car Parking for the Guests of the IDA & WCDF

FUND RAISING
There will be a draw to raise extra prize money for the Irish Open, as well as raising prize money for the World 3-Move Qualifying tournament. Tickets will be available at €2 each or €8 for a book of 5 tickets. The prizes will be First €500, Second €400, Third €300, Fourth €200 & Fifth €100. The draw will be held after the Qualifying tournament on Saturday, 30.10.10. Tickets will be available from Bill Dobbins, Treasurer, Blackwood, Robertstown, Naas, Co. Kildare. Or from Seán Phillips, “Suí Finn”, Cullinagh, Newcastle West, Co. Limerick.

2010 World 3-Move Qualifying Tournament – Report by Sean Phillips

The World 3-Move Qualifying Tournament will be held in the Radisson Blu Hotel at Dublin Airport from Wednesday, 27.10.10, to Saturday, 30.10.10. This will be played over 8 rounds. There will be no entry fee if a player is nominated by a member association of the World Checkers & Draughts Federation. The winner will be the Official Challenger to play the holder, Alex Moiseyev, in a World 3-Move Title Match during 2011. There may also be Ladies & Youths sections played at the same venue. But this is dependant on the numbers of entries.
TIMETABLE
Wednesday, 27.10.10: First Round 10 am. Second Round 3 pm.
Thursday, 28.10.10: Third Round 10 am. Fourth Round 3 pm.
Friday, 29.10.10: Fifth Round 10 am. Sixth Round 3 pm.
Saturday, 30.10.10: Seventh Round 10 am. Eighth Round 3 pm.

PRIZES
The top ten finishers in the Qualifying competition will receive €100 each towards their accommodation expenses. The player, who emerges as the Official Challenger, and who will play Alex Moiseyev in a World 3-Move Title Match during 2011, will receive €2,000 towards his match expenses on completion of the Match.
