Hi Jay,
Chris Reekie's article is already a part of the books description, but it does not answer my question regarding John Paterson.
Perhaps what I have in the library is some later-day repring with additions by Paterson?

Hi Jake, I don't know anything about John Patterson other than his essay on "the move" in Anderson's 1852 book.
There was also a W. Patterson from England who was a draughts editor and writer. Vocabulary Of Checkers (VOC)
and The Literature Of Checkers (LOC) by W.T. Call may be cross-checked for details. In VOC under "P"
are four Patterson entries. One thing that surprised me is that it is Peterson's Drawbridge, not Patterson!
In LOC entry 26 for Anderson's 1852 book, John Patterson is not even mentioned! The works of W. Patterson are listed in entries 48, 49, and 51.

We have a Scottish gentleman who is doing a great job preserving old Scottish Draughts books.
I am amazed at the quality of play, but even more amazed at the quality of books, right now I completed refining pages of yet another Scottish championship from 1894 - hard cover, gold leaf, games, diagrams, indexes, vignettes of the winnners. This was 120 years ago - we do not print current championships half as good.

Looking for the old issues of The New Draughts World and British Draughts Journal for preservation in the library.

I am not related to William Hay the draughts author, whose first work was published in Scotland in 1838.

In order to prevent in advance questions, I want officially confirm here that - YES, I am related to famous Soviet Union dancer Igor Moiseyev.

He wasn't very close relative but my dad told me that Igor Moiseyev is his far-cousin.

So that is how Mr. Alex choreographs the men on the checkerboard so well! :)

Two more magazines started in the library - English Draughts Association Journal and Irish Draughts Association Newsletter in addition to the exising ACF Bulletin, British Draughts Journal and The New Draughts World. It would be a nice task to fill all issues going back 50-60 years! To editors - can you send Word/Excel/PDF oiginals, they would be much more presentable of your work than scans.

Someone dropped anonymously the 2003 King-Francis match using the library tool intended for very large files.
Perhaps it was a misunderstanding (the explanation there is mostly in Russian) or just an experiment.
Anyway - the normal procedure is to include files in the email to editor@checkersusa.com, it has a 200MB capacity.

I recall meeting Francis at the 2003 International Games in Las Vegas, we analyzed some position and I was very impressed by his wonderment, he looked into places I would never consider to look. He then was sporting humongous dreadlocks :)
